Plexiglass screwed to the lower portion of doors is an inexpensive way to create your own kick plate.
Two design ideas are shown on the left. The first is the swing-free door
hinges that remove an open door totally from the doorway, thereby providing
additional clearance space.
The less obvious idea is the pull attached to the hinge side of the door.
This allows you to easily close the door behind you from a wheelchair or standing.
Can't get to the basement and there's no room for a side-by-side washer and dryer on the main floor? Try a stacked unit. (The employee participants of GE Medical ECCO program donated ours).
Make sure the controls are reachable from a seated position!
